iRest Yoga Nidra for Turbulent Times: Meditation on Wholeness, Connection & Completeness
When you take a moment to check in with yourself, do you sometimes feel separate, less than, lacking, scattered? How does that feel in your body?
That’s the feeling of apurna, our experience of disconnection from Universal Consciousness, when we have forgotten our heritage as conscious beings. If we remain here, we find suffering and lack of meaning.
All consciousness participates in five activities: creating, sustaining, dissolving, forgetting and remembering.
We enter and remain in a state of apurna when we forget that we are a microcosm of the Universal Consciousness. When we remember, we reclaim our unlimited power to create, sustain, and dissolve situations in the service of life. We become without boundary, timeless, whole, complete.
What is iRest Yoga Nidra?
iRest Yoga Nidra is a guided meditation technique that senses the whole body to discover what is coming up for us in this moment – feelings, emotions, thoughts and beliefs. This iRest Yoga Nidra practice will start with a bit of movement to prepare for an extended seated practice, on the floor, or in a chair. Or, if you choose, in your recliner or on a mat on the floor. We will scan the body from within, noticing what is there, Finding bodily sensations that may be associated with feelings, emotions, thoughts or beliefs. Finding any traces of apūrna. We will then firmly ground ourselves, perhaps in a seated position, and affirm our natural state of pūrna: expansive, timeless, complete and whole.
There is even a Vedic Chant to go with this meditation: pūrnamadah, which we will learn before the meditation practice.. I will chant it to finish the meditation. You may choose to join in, as you end your meditation session. Om shanti shanti shantihi
