Every person has their own unique reactions to the stresses of life. Does stress make you tired, wired, or totally tapped out? Do you have difficulty with focus, concentration, or clear thinking? Is stress showing up with headaches, gut problems, sleep difficulties, or tightness and tension? Is stress making pain in your body worse? Do you find your mood impacted? The tools of yoga can be adapted for every person to navigate the symptoms of stress.
What We Offer in This Workshop
Exploration of yoga postures, adaptations of postures, short accessible breathing and meditation practices, and guided relaxation in 3 take-home yoga practices with a focus on:
- Totally Tapped Out & Tired: Managing fatigue, gently coaxing your body when your energy bank account is low, dealing with a poor night’s sleep, rejuvenating
- Dealing with Fight or Flight, Anger, Agitation: Processing stress hormones, shifting mood, cultivating calmness and steadiness.
- Wired: How to come down after a stressful day for better sleep, managing restless legs, and setting the stage for better gut health (practice leads into savasana and soundbath)
Discussion around how yoga impacts the nervous system and easy-to-practice techniques that can be used during your day
Worksheets and journaling around what’s feeling just right for you
A luxurious sound bath to conclude the workshop to help you access deep relaxation and rejuvenation
Who Could Benefit From This Workshop
This workshop is for anyone interested in using yoga, breathwork, and meditation to manage stress and build resilience for the demands of everyday life. The practices will be accessible for everyone with options for adapting to make postures suit your body. More experienced yoga practitioners and teachers will glean ideas for adapting yoga for stress resilience for personal practice and teaching. This workshop is 4 hours of continuing education for yoga teachers who are registered with Yoga Alliance.
Meet Your Teachers:
Mary Hilliker, E-RYT 500, C-IAYT has been teaching yoga for 27 years and providing individualized Yoga Therapy and therapeutic groups for 17 years. She is a Peter Hess® Sound Massage Practitioner and has studied with Devi Mambouka for group sound baths.
Mary enjoys teaching practices that help you discover tools for everyday life so that you can do what you have to do and what you love to do. She teaches a weekly Yoga Therapeutics & Stress Reduction class online at 5 Koshas.
She is the lead teacher for the 200 hour and 300 hour River Flow Yoga Teacher Trainings that are offered through 5 Koshas Yoga & Wellness.
Sherry Oakes, RYT-200 is a Registered Yoga Teacher, Peter Hess® Sound Massage Practitioner, and has studied with Devi Mambouka for group sound baths.
Sherry teaches a weekly Yoga-Infused Strength Training class at 5 Koshas. Her goal is to help others get the most out of their experience and leave feeling accomplished and at peace.
She offers individual sound massage and group sound baths.
