What drives your passion for teaching?

After rediscovering yoga in my adult life, I realize it is much more than how far you can stretch or a fantastically advanced pose. It’s about the harmony between your body and mind. Yoga is for everyone, everybody, every age. I enjoy seeing what the practice of yoga will bring to each student when they step on to the mat, it always seems to show you what you are searching for.

What is your intention for students who may take your classes or work with you individually?

Through practice, I hope to facilitate an awareness from my students, an awareness of their breath, their muscles, and their thoughts. The connection between the breath and movement, and those small spaces between, are what I hope to leave with students.

How Would You Describe Your Teaching Style?

I want to connect mindfulness to all practice, living in the here and now.

Other Experiences That Shape Who You Are

Teaching is in my blood. I teach social sciences at NTC going on 20 years. I love to connect a subject matter to students, to help them see the relevance of it to their lives and their futures. Yoga is a perfect subject to add to my list, my passion for education and yoga melds perfectly!

What Are Some Fun Things about You?

I am a fur-mom to two adorable dogs, Static and Paco. I enjoy crocheting hats or sweaters for them in my spare time.

What Are Some Things You are Passionate About?

I love education and being a life-long learner. We never stop learning, finding out new ways to improve ourselves and our communities.

  • What they say...

“This class was warm and inviting. It allowed me to start the practice of Yoga as a beginner.”

“Sarah was knowledgeable and made me feel at ease. I am a beginner, so I wasn’t sure I could complete the poses she was requesting. If there was something I struggled with she suggested an alternate pose. I loved that.”

“Sarah provided an environment that was calm, welcoming and serene. She offered alternatives to specific exercises, which provided everyone the opportunity to take part, at their own level.”
